Cinnamon Spiced Orange Ice Tea
It’s a very refreshing drink on hot summer days with a spicy and orange flavor. Very easy to make with available things at home. All we need is
A piece of cinnamon stick, two Star anise, three cloves, three black pepper, two cardamom, two sweet oranges and a tea spoon tea powder/ one tea bag. A few mint leaves and slices of lemon to garnish.
First peel the oranges (we’ve used mandarin oranges since they are very juicy and sweet, but you can use any type oranges, no problem at all) and keep aside the peels, we need the peels for flavoring the tea later.
Squeeze fresh juice from the peeled oranges then add two spoons of sugar and let it mix well in the juice and keep it aside.
Boil two cups water with the cinnamon stick, star anise, cloves, pepper, cardamoms and orange peels. Then sprinkle a tea spoon of tea powder (we used Red Label Natural Care since it has that spicy taste and we love that), bring it to boil for a couple of seconds then let it simmer for a couple of minutes on low flame.
Turn off the stove once all spices and orange peels completely infused in to the boiling water. Drain the tea and let it cool down its own.
Add the orange juice to the tea once it’s completely cool down. Then refrigerate the tea for a couple of hours before serving. You better make the tea one day before and keep it in the fridge. Pour the ice tea into a juice glass with a few ice cubes. Garnish it with a few mint leaves, small slices of lemon and orange, then serve it instantly.
